Many contemporary works from Africa represent themes of dynamic movement. The shifting perspective in contemporary art that arises from movement and exchange offers an opportunity to reexamine one's own identity and reassess the richness of human creativity.
This exhibition will not only feature contemporary arts, but also Japanese traditional folding screens from the early Edo period depicting African people.
And it shows the ancient exchange between Africa and Asia, riding the monsoons across the Indian Ocean, as Samurai Warlord Oda Nobunaga deeply connected to Gifu prefecture, had a Mozambican vassal named Yasuke in the 16th century.
